AWS CloudTrail Adds S3 Data Events in Canada (Central) and EU (London) Regions

AWS CloudTrail S3 Data Events allow you to record API actions on Amazon S3 objects and receive detailed information such as the AWS account of the caller, IAM user role of the caller, time of the API call, IP address of the API, and other details. You can programmatically access and act upon the Data Events after they are delivered to an Amazon S3 bucket or to Amazon CloudWatch Events. For example, you can quickly reapply the original Access Control List (ACL) on an object if the ACL of an object is modified.

Amazon Kinesis Streams Server-Side Encryption Now Available Broadly

Earlier this month, we announced support for Server-Side Encryption in Kinesis Streams in select AWS regions. Today, we are expanding the availability of this feature to all public AWS regions except the China (Beijing) region, and to the AWS GovCloud region. Server-side encryption makes it easy to meet strict data management requirements by encrypting your data at rest within Kinesis Streams. For more information, see the Kinesis Streams FAQ page and Server-Side Encryption in the Kinesis Streams Developer Guide.

Now You Can Use AWS Directory Service for Microsoft Active Directory to Help Maintain HIPAA and PCI Compliance in the AWS Cloud

Now you can use AWS Directory Service for Microsoft Active Directory (Enterprise Edition), also known as AWS Microsoft AD, to build and run Active Directory (AD)–aware applications in the AWS Cloud that are subject to U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance. AWS Microsoft AD reduces the effort required of you to deploy compliant AD infrastructure for your cloud-based applications, as you manage your own HIPAA risk management programs or PCI DSS compliance certification.

Read-replica support for Apache HBase on S3 and Apache Flink 1.3.0 in Amazon EMR release 5.7.0

You can now create read-replica Apache HBase clusters pointed to the same underlying HBase tables in Amazon S3 on Amazon EMR release 5.7.0. Apache HBase is a distributed, non-relational database built for random, strictly consistent realtime access for tables with billions of rows and millions of columns. By using read-replicas, you can increase availability by creating HBase clusters in different Amazon EC2 Availability Zones that read from the same dataset in Amazon S3.
